The Best Day

He never knew his birthday. She gave him one, and a promise to keep.

Arlott walks a long road alone, hauling a coffin on a cart, when a single daisy drifts into his hand. It carries him back to a day out with Mila, the baker who stitched him a cloak so he could leave the house. She tells him it is her birthday, and when he admits he does not know his own, she makes him a promise.
